Really, its not your computer, there really are no pictures up at the moment. I am organizing my files, which means that the picture links are not working so I have to go back and replace them on the pages. This will take a couple of days, so please be patient!
I just added my first Jewelry pieces to the Art & Jewelry page. Three pairs of earrings and more to come. Paypal buttons have been added as well for payment. Will be adding some artwork as well as some more pictures of this years Silkies. Weather has cooled down now so it is much more comfortable for everyone. Garden going pretty decent, at least with the green beans and cucumber and potatoes. The rest, well, not so much. Going to be culling a few birds this fall and winter once I see what they turn out like. Looking at selling 2 roosters and several pullets. Not sure what exactly or how much I will be selling them for. Will probably go up for sale on Eggbid.
Boy is it ever. Forcast for the next few days say its supposed to get up to 104°F. I hope all the birds make it.
They are getting the stress pack still, I can always tell when they need it as I start seeing some of the Silkies walking in circles. I usually find some of the young whites outside when I get home and I worry about them as I water inside the coop and they often do not see how to get back in with their huge crests. Until this year I did not have this problem so it is quite a new experience for me.
Most of the birds going to the shows this fall will be young, 8 months old or younger. I do not mark the chicks as they hatch for birthdate, but they are all wing banded for identification. All were identified as chicks with colored pipe cleaners till they were old enough to wing band. Of course, I know that it is still possible to show a Silkie at that age if they are exceptional birds, as was my Grand Champ this past spring at 7 months old. Almost all the eggs that were set this year were her eggs and the ones in the last few months were hers as those were the only ones set. I hope to be able to show her again this fall, but all my adults have been brooding so breaking them has been an impossible task.
Birds to show will be moved into their show cages end of August, beginning of September, depending on weather. I hope it will be cool enough by then. They will all need training in handling and of course baths.
Buffs I have been plucking feathers out that I have cut this summer for breeding. I might get them in shape for show I hope, but the chicks will not be old enough to go this year.
Praying for cooler weather and some rain soon.....
